The exhibition series OSMOSIS, initiated by the Kunstwolkenagentur, seeks to build inspiring international connections between artists, strengthen creative networks, and encourage enriching dialogue across national and cultural borders. The theme Floating Bodies warmly invites artists to engage with the element of water in all its fascinating dimensions: as a source of life, a symbol of change and movement, and as a force that connects or separates people and cultures. Water stands at the center of an exciting exchange about philosophical, ecological, and social questions. How do we care for this vital resource? In what ways does water shape our communities and our environment?
We welcome participating artists to explore these themes through installations, sculptures, photography, video works, publications, or other artistic forms. The project offers space for thoughtful reflection, meaningful dialogue, and fresh perspectives on water and its role in both global and local contexts.
At the heart of OSMOSIS 2025 is the lively exchange between four artists from Hanover and four artists from Albuquerque (New Mexico, USA), who will collaborate and research together. Artists from Germany and the USA are warmly invited to apply either for active participation in the residency or by submitting thematically fitting works for the accompanying exhibition.
The residency will take place in October 2025 in Hanover. The selected artists will have the opportunity to work for 2 to 3 weeks in studios at Art Connecting and Galerie 4h art, as well as on the houseboat “Zur Kunst,” which offers a unique temporary workspace on the water. Together, we will embark on joint excursions, workshops, artist talks, open studios, and an exhibition at Galerie Bei Koc and Galerie 4h art. We are also excited to plan a follow-up project with an exhibition in Albuquerque in 2026.
